Finally posting..

No time for much commentary. The girls are going through a growth spurt or something...extra fussy, which is awesome. BUT, we had a great weekend. Went to a halloween party, where they dressed as santa's helpers. Saturday, we went to the apple orchard and a fish fry! They were angels! Oh, that's Rob eating a monster size piece of cake =)

Big Girls

I just had to post this picture of the girls...Because Alex is chessing it up so much. Things were a bit rough this past week due to their shots. It was so sad to see them have to get four each. Thank goodness Daddy was there to hold them! Their sleep got all sorts of messed up, but we are on getting back to some sort of schedule. Alex also rolled over for the first time! I went to get her up yesterday morning and there she was..on her back. Yes, they sleep on their stomachs. I blame the NICU for starting that habit. They are still very high maintenance, but hopefully they will start to play a little more soon. At least we are getting some smiles here and there. Next week we have another first...We are going on an airplane to see Aunt Alli and her growing belly! Oh boy..should be interesting!

We are 4 months old!

We are getting so big! We turned 4 months old on Sunday! Here is a pic of the girls with their very first dolls that Grandpa gave them! The top picture shows Alex on the left and Keegan on the right. In the second picture Alex is on the right and Keegan is on the left.

Today the girls had to get their shots. It always breaks my heart to see that and I almost had to take out another mom. She was not nice, making comments about the size of our girls...not to us, but so we could hear. And then, blatantly (sp?) listening to our conversation with the health department lady. I soo wanted to say something to her, but I didn't. Gosh, I get so annoyed with ignorant people.

Anywho, the girls are taking the shots pretty well and are starting to get more playful. They are still hard to have just one of us take care of them, but we are making progress!

Here we come!

Daddy took the girls for a walk yesterday morning with these cute little sweaters his Aunt knit! Aren't they so cute! Obviously, I am a bit obsessed with taking pictures of the girls! I can't help it though

No Go

So...no trip to Florida for us. We decided it would be way to much to deal with logistically. So, we are going to tough it out...

We did receive an offer from Courtney and Jason to babysit on of the girls for a couple of weeks in December...so we are thinking about that! Aren't they the bomb???

And...My sister in law and brother in law (basically...officially Oct 09) got me a surprise massage today! It was freaking awesome!

Good day today, we will see how the night goes!

Awesome..

So proud of myself. I was able to get the girls to take a nap in their crib yesterday afternoon all by myself. Now, this is monumental. They NEVER let us do that, even when my mom is here helping. We usually spend the day holding them! I think I wore them out though =) I was taking care of them alone and they had to tolerate sharing, that didn't make them the happiest. So, we definitely had some crying time before the nap!

We are thinking about taking the girls to florida. Are we crazy, yes I think so. But, my parents are meeting Alli and Bryan and my niecephew (don't know if Alli is having a boy or a girls yet...it's killing me) at the beach and they feel bad for leaving us all alone. They also say they want to hang out, but I am not too sure =) We have to decide today, so I will keep you posted. It's so great to have them and that they even thought about letting us invade their vacation!

It's been a rough week. Lots of ups and downs. Keep hoping for more ups Please!!

Growing up!

The girls have been doing a lot of growing! They are now cooing and smiling back at us. It's so fun to see and I love having them talk to me! AND....They are starting to tolerate sitting in the swing! Not for a long time, but we are getting there. They still insist on being held most of the day, but hey, one step at a time. We went to visit my Nan this week...She is 92 and still doing pretty well. She loves the babies and always becomes the most popular resident when the girls are there. I usually try to hide them in her room. The other day we were stalked by some woman who wouldn't back off. She kept asking me to hold one of the girls and I would tell her "No, only family can hold them now because they are so little." Then she proceeded to tell me how healthy she was as she coughed into her hands. It was pretty awesome! So, in the picture is Great Nan and Nana!
Oh, and I called the doctor to confirm they are identical twins. I know, I think of more things to worry about. But, it just doesn't seem like they look the same. But, I received confirmation that they are identical twins (hopefully they really looked at the pathology report like I asked!).
Peace out.

For Reals..

So, I thought the other night was bad. Oh no, nothing has compared to last night. Rob and I both decided it was the worst night ever-ever. The girls were not happy with anything and once we thought we had them asleep, they were wide awake. Seriously, these girls are too smart for their own good. They know within two seconds when someone isn't holding them and they get ticked. So, we basically didn't get any sleep. I swear, I hope it gets better soon.

At least they are healthy and cute, right? Notice in second picture that Alex is holding Keegan's binky in!

Go Bears!

It's funny...It seems like just when it seems like the girls are doing better sleepwise and fussywise, we take another step back. Yesterday was horrendous (sp?). Thank goodness for Nana and Papa, they came over to let Mommy and Daddy sleep for a little bit. Both girls need to be held non-stop and they still don't like any of their toys. So cross your fingers that that will soon change.

A little shot out for slings...man, they have saved us! Rob is able to wear both of them at the same time, so I can pump or do other things around the house! It's been a blessing otherwise we would be in huge trouble! Thanks bunches for the gift Alli and to Courtney for letting us "borrow" hers...hehehe!

The girls are also enjoying the bears game in their new outfits!

3 months old!

Wow! I can't believe it has already been three months since the girls were born. It's been a crazy ride, some days I feel like we have had the girls for forever and other days, it seems like they just got here. It's also so amazing to see how far they have come.

There are so many memories that I have from their stay in the NICU, but at the same time I can't even remember what it was like to hold two three pound babies. I can remember how agonizing it was to not be able to hold the girls for days and not knowing if they were going to be okay. We feel so lucky that the girls are now healthy 7/8 pounders! They seem so heavy and big to us, but so small to others.

They are really starting to look around and focus in on us, which is such a great feeling. We are hoping that they continue to gain weight at a good pace and then will start sleeping though the night!

Some days, I still can't believe that we were given two beautiful little girls. Some days, I just want to cry, but I wouldn't change any of this for the world.

This past weekend

I had to post these pictures! I caught Rob sleeping with the girls and then the girls zonked out on me later that day. I will try to post more later, but I am tired.
Did have a new ped appointment today and the girls are doing great...and I liked this guy! I will post pictures tomorrow...It's their 3 month birthday!

Chaos...

Man, the past 24 hours have been a bit rough. The girls have had a number of fussy periods and we can't figure out what the problem is. It's so frustrating and I am hoping to figure it out soon. We are trying a new ped on Thursday, so hopefully he will be able to help.

I have some great pics to post, but am too tired tonight. I will put them up tomorrow!

The girls do make everything worth it when they are sleeping or randomly smile. I was feeding Keegan today and she just made me crack up. I pulled the bottle out of her mouth and she gave me a grin and just let milk run out of her mouth. It was so funny! They really are the cutest girls in the world.

Recent Pics

Here are some recent pictures of the girls!

Praying for Poop and a Breastmilk Baptismal

Wow. I think the title post says it all.

The past week and a half has been the most challenging to date. The girls have not been feeling the greatest and crying alot...like all day. I have been so worried and exhausted and frustrated all at the same time. We are trying some new formula, moved away from the breastmilk for a little bit to see if that is going to help. Alex was having pooping issues too (sorry for being so blunt). Finally, she went!! Who would have guessed that Rob and I would be so excited for that to happen!

On Thursday, I should have guessed it was going to be a rough day. Keegan decided that she was not interested in sleeping and insisted on being held while I tried to pump. I was sitting in my parents living room with her on my lap and trying to hold onto my pump when I realized I needed to change the bottles...Hmm..I tried to change the bottle while holding Keegan and continuing to pump. I was doing so good and then I lost balance and Keegan was doused with breastmilk all over her forehead. But, she didn't flinch. Then I looked out the window and realized my parents lawn boy had been mowing the whole time and the window had been open the whole time. It was awesome =)

Today, the girls have been great. I was able to stay with my parents while Ro, his sister Erin and Lenore (Rob's Mom) watched the girls. I did feel guilty not being with the girls, but loved being able to relax a bit!

I am off to hang out with the girls...Fussy time is starting =)

Wowsiers

So, I am a little late in the game, but better late then never, right? Where should I begin?

Well, I guess the whole point of this is to document our life together, especially after our latest adventure...KIDS! I will give you all a brief background, although most should already know it!

Rob and I met at Saint Louis University and man, he just couldn't stay away from me =) After our time at SLU, we started a long distance relationship for THREE years. Very difficult to say the least. We were married in October of 2006 and moved to Peoria, IL. Last fall, Rob and I decided that it was time to start our family and low and behold, we found out we were pregnant in November. We were shocked and excited...Little did we know what the future held for us.

In January of 2008, we had our first doctor's appointment, only to find out we were expecting identical twins! Holy cow, were we starting our family or what???

Well, I had a very interesting pregnancy...we were diagnosed with twin to twin transfusion syndrome, which required me to go to Cincinnati for surgery. Alexandra Rose and Keegan Marie were born June 5, 2008 at 30 weeks. They were such fighters and were able to come home 7 weeks later.

They are now home, but proving to be very challenging. What a whirlwind of a life Rob and I have had and that whirlwind is going to continue for the rest of our lives!

Hope you guys enjoy the pictures and posts. I am starting this as my daily outlet from the children!
