All class...all the time...

Last week was Rob's birthday and he went fishing with my brother in law and a friend. They wanted to take a couple beers and could not find any plastic cups....

So, this is what they took....

All class here...all class.

Irritations...

So many, but here are a few from the past couple of days....

  • People who think that because I didn't go full term in my pregnancy, I don't know what it's like to be 40 weeks pregnant....Um, hello? I was carrying two babies and measured at 40 weeks when I was 28 weeks pregnant... THIS is my biggest annoyance!
  • People who come up to me and say "Oh, I wish I had twins...get it all done at once!" Umm...what? I love having twins now, but it is HARD work (to say the least!). It was terrible at first. People act like it's a novelty.
  • People who ask, "which is better?" What does that even mean?
  • The old: "were they natural" or "do they run in your family" I then tell them everything about how they were conceived and that identical means completely random.
Overall though, I can't complain. People are so nice to me about having twins and wanting to see them!

2nd Birthday

I thought I was going to be ready for this...ready for my girls to turn two and become little girls. I was ready to officially say good bye to the baby stage. Or so I thought.

I am SO not ready. I realized that last night after having a fun day of playing and running around. I love where my babies are right now and I really don't want them to get bigger. I know..I am being a selfish. I can't help it though.

I remember last year being so excited for the girls to turn one. It marked Rob and I making it. We had made it through the TTTS surgery, the NICU, the up all nights with screaming babies (to say our first 6 months were awful is an understatement). We made it in one piece and were a stronger couple because of it.

This year we faced numerous challenges and frustrations, but our babies were starting to become individuals. Amazing personalities and love for each other. At times, I didn't know if we would all make it out alive, but we did. And we are better for it.

Now, the girls love to play with each other and be independent....but they LOVE their Mommy. And you know what, I love that they Love me so much and want me to hold them and love on them. I am afraid with the end of their baby stage, this cuddly stage will also end.

I may be a little dramatic here, but I love the stage my girls are at right now. I just want to freeze them and keep them here.

I love you Alexandra and I love you Keegan.

Thank you for giving your daddy and me the best two years of our life. Can't wait to see what your future holds!

Alex's Favorite Things

Here is a follow up of Alex's Favorite things:
  • Her highchair tray has to be completely clean when you give it to her. There can not be any water drips from cleaning it, or she will let you know. She will say "uh-oh" until you clean it up.
  • Everything must in order before her day starts. Door closed, toilet seats down. Again, will say "uh-oh" if anything is not in order
  • She pulls off her diaper if she doesn't have a onesie or pants on.
  • She doesn't care about a toy until Keegan has it
  • She loves to jump
  • Elmo is her favorite doll
  • She loves her neighbor friend. She will sit at the window and cry for him...and her cousin
  • She loves to jam out. It has gotten crazy at times!
  • She will crawl up anything at anytime
  • Loves vaseline
  • Thinks that Daddy is amazing
  • Sucks the cinnamon and sugar off her toast before eating it
  • Loves bath time with her sissy
  • loves to swing
  • LOVES to jump on beds and sing songs!

Keegan's Favorite Things...

Man, the girls are developing such little personalities. I love watching the girls grow, learn and develop their own little quirks. Here are a few of Keegan's:
  • She loves her pink binkie, upside down
  • She flies down the stairs on her stomach, literally catapults herself down with her arms
  • Loves to try and climb up the kitchen chairs and then sit in her booster seat
  • Ignores Alex
  • Loves to give kisses and hugs
  • Is a total mommy. She rocks anything, everything and sometimes nothing...No seriously, she rocks sippy cups...
  • She loves to make funny faces and make you laugh
  • She loves to jump
  • Loves to take the cushions out of the recliners and jump off the chair into them
  • She wakes up in the morning and just chats to herself...and asks for her cousin Emmie.
  • is an AMAZING climber. She is maybe 20 lbs but can pull anything and get up on anything
  • Loves lotions
  • Thinks that daddy is amazing
  • Loves to run around the "big kid" park. Not scared of anything
  • Loves bathtime
  • LOVES to jump on beds and sing songs

This week has been filled with a lot of ups and downs.

The girls have been trying my patience. They are into everything and not been sleeping like we had been before the time change. I am sure this will all work out soon, but at the beginning of the week...I thought I was going to pull my hair out.

The bottom of the barrel was when Keegan was scooting down the stairs on Tuesday. When she got close to the bottom, she started saying "poop, poop, poop." I didn't think it was a big deal, I would change her when she got down. Oh boy, was I wrong! She had pooped out of her diaper, down her close and onto the carpeted steps! I about called Rob to come home =)

It then became a battle to get her cleaned up, the stairs cleaned up and the girls out of the poo.

That day ended with crying...by me and by the girls!

Wednesday was new day though! The girls played outside and loved it! I think we are going to need a fence to keep the girls from sprinting all over the place!

The best part of the day was after breakfast. They ran out of the kitchen while I picked up. I then heard it...Nothing...So, I immediately thought the worst. But this is what I saw:

It melted my heart.

These are the times that I know all the downs, all the trials....they are worth it. these are the moments when I see how lucky I am to be a mom of twinkies. These are the best.

Have a great weekend!

Wow!

Has it really been a couple of months since I posted. I am a total slacker!

The girls are back to sleeping better and we have had a rough go around with sickness. A few ear infections and a lot of colds. I am hoping we are over it for a least a little while.

We took the girls down to Fort Lauderdale to visit with my sister, brother-in-law, my nephew and niece. It was awesome. The girls did really well with all of the flights (total of 4!)...man, those seats seem a lot smaller when you put an adult and a toddler in them! I will attach some pictures soon, I promise(ish) =) Don't want to get held to something...

Alex and Keegan continue to amaze me. Lately, they have been all about each other. It's sissy this, sissy that. They are constantly looking for each other and crying when they can't see each other. It's pretty darn cute, but difficult at naptime and night time. They are talking like crazy, though we don't know what they are saying most of the time. They really love their Daddy and ask for him every morning when they wake up.

They definitely know how to push my buttons and know exactly when they are doing it. They usually give me a big grin right before getting in trouble! They are too darn cute sometimes...okay all the time

Frustration..

I am so tired and so frustrated. The girls are not sleeping.

They have always been horrible sleepers, but we had finally hit a stride and had the girls sleeping through the night for a good few months (maybe more..right now I feel like they have never slept through the night).

Then Christmas hit. The girls have never started sleeping well since then. Now, we have teeth coming in and Alex is just not good with discomfort. She has been up every hour all weekend. I don't know what to do.

We have tired the CIO, but she just hasn't taken to it. And, I feel bad doing it when she has a toothache, runny nose and sickness. Chriminy. This totally blows.

Growing Up

Life has been such a whirlwind lately. My girls are growing up so fast and I feel like I want to freeze time some days. My days are spent chasing these beautiful girls around.

Some days I can be beyond frustrated, but then I look at them and realize how blessed my family is. We have these spunky, playful spazzes...Which I mean in the sweetest possible way!

Alex is very determined and vocal about her needs. She also loves to steal her sister's toys, but can't tolerate it when her sister does the same. She is strong willed and beautiful.

Keegan is a total individual. She likes to play by herself, but is also starting to play with Alex more. She is also a total tickle bug. I love hearing her little laugh when I tickle her! She is also more of a cuddlebug. Her little closed mouth smile melts my heart everyday.

Here are some of our most recent pictures!

My little angels are full of energy. Getting pictures of them with us is getting harder and harder
I am dipping my toes in the world of cloth diapers..a little late, but good practice for another child in the far future. The girls love them..over their clothes!

They love their tent from Aunt CoCo. They like to turn it on its side for some reason!

Don't worry this cabinet now has a lock on it.

All I have to say is TROUBLE!

Eye Doctor Appointment

The girls had their follow up eye appointments this afternoon and I am so excited that we don't have to go back for THREE more years! Dr. Steve has very pleased with their progress and was also amazed at how much the girls grew since last year. That made my day too!

I have some funny video on my phone of the girls messing with all the buttons in the doctor's office...I let them pretty much do whatever (within reason) in the doctor's office...they were restless and pooped! Now, I just need to figure out how to get it on here!

Crazy...

Does it make me a little crazy if I made French Toast for breakfast this morning, but I wasn't satisfied with the outcome...So, I am remaking some to try another recipe out?

I swear, I am not anal.

Our new favorite thing...

Here are so new pictures of the girls. The first is of their new climbing toy. They are hilarious flying down the slide.

They are also really big fans of their sunglasses now. Especially while eating!

Putting the sunnies on top of their head like mommy

Keegan looking awesome

Alex being cute

When you are sliding into first.....

Okay, Okay...a little graphic I know, but that's been our story this past week. Don't you worry...my ankle is NOT broken (found this out after our trip to the ER). Then the diarrhea in our house started with my little Keegan and then Alex. Have no fear, everyone is feeling better!

A few neat things that have happened:
  • Alex was playing with her little people and all the sudden said "she go night-night". She had just put the baby in her crib. WHAT! Growing up so fast!
  • Keegan is saying sister
  • Our night routine is soon going to have to change. They can now crawl out of their jumperoo and exersaucers...

Not so neat...It is freezing. I mean, freezing out. I hate the winter and not being able to go out and about. We are going to get our second H1N1 shot tomorrow...good times...
